Phil-n-Paul do the commentary for Versus in the US and OLN in Canada. I think maybe they also do it for whatever the Australian station is called. If you can find a stream on Steephill for any of these countries/channels, you too can experience the magic that is Phil-n-Paul.

The same old cliches get trotted out year after year. I sometimes wonder if there would be much difference between their live commentary and sample 'snips' of their commentary edited into a random compilation.

I haven't watched closely enough to be sure, but it seems to me they're a lot less Lance-struck this year than last. Not that adulation is completely missing, but they seem a bit more even-handed in their praise.

It's working well for me at the moment. I think some are designed so you can only pick them up in certain countries, but I'm no expert on this.

Sh!t! There's a journalist strike in Italy today over the horrible anti-interception law the awful Berlusconi government is trying to push through the system. To give Signor B and his crew the right to be corrupt, without being able to be properly investigated.

No friggin commentary as a result, just the video! It's like being deaf!

They could just record their responses and use them from year to year. I mean, it isn't like they identify the rider on screen correctly most of the time anyway. If it isn't Armstrong or Canc, they only have about a 50/50 shot. Hell, you could just about tape them talking about the first stage and play that commentary for every other stage of the race. You know with the number of times Lance is mentioned, they would hit paydirt several times each stage in terms of sinking what they are saying with pictures of who is on screen. It would have to save Versus some serious money to do this.

It was a massive relief to have them back after any period of time listening to David Duffield. What a plonker that guy was.

Oh come on. Versus has a thingy at the bottom of the screen that shows where the following riders are: yellow jersey, green jersey, dots jersey, white jersey, and Lance. Where else can you get vital information like that?

i thought Duffield was OK.. i kind of miss him. OK he rambled on a lot but he was quite funny some of the time.

I never had the urge to want to switch over with him commentating.
