What's going on with Bora this year. They're pretty mediocre.

Looked like Gall started pedaling too early and his wheel just slipped. Not an ideal final, but IMO that was a mistake by the rider.

Sure that's true, but there were very sharp corners in the last 400m. Can you imagine a group of 30 riders going through there full speed?

There was enough climbing before it to narrow down the group. Still not a great final, but less bad than those whacky technical finishes on sprint stages that you often have in the Tour de Suisse.

Tour of the Alps is one of the few races where Ineos can ride in their oldfashioned Ineos way and still win. Usually they just provide the leadout for someone else. But I have to say, they do look quite good, and certainly Geoghegan does. Apparently his trainer is the guy who came with Arensman from DSM. It's odd how Arensman himself is performing so poorly right now, I assume under the same tutelage.

Poole (12th in GC) has the youth jersey, btw. Next contender is Riccitello in 20th. Fairly unusual these days to have no young rider up there with the very best.

I have to say that he's looking very focused and determined. I wonder if Hindley's Giro win hasn't lit à fire under him, beyond the new coach.

Does the 3K crash rule apply to mountain stages?

It's 1km I believe for mtf

it's 3k always unless "the finish is at the top of a hill-climb". So in the Tour of the Alps, the 3k rule is applied for stage 2, 4 and 5.

The definition of "hill-climb" can vary a bit from race to race, but in this case it's fairly clear.

He's incredible miserable. Like Andy Murray on steroids.
He often has some good takes on twitter or in interviews but they're always Captain Hindsight. Loves to moan afterwards about dangerous finishes etc but never manages to voice his opinions beforehand.

They often finish in lateral valleys where there are no other roads connecting them to the main valley, so they finish early to prevent complications for all the people who are coming back home from work later.

Abner Gozalez finished dead last, Mühlberger 5:33 down (hasn't been the same rider since getting Meningitis) and Fabbro over 9min down. I know, the later might be sick like half the Bora team, but what happened to the version of Fabbro that we saw in 2020 and in early 2021? I never expected him to become a gc rider in gts because of how inconsistent he has been in stage races since the u23 ranks, but he's a shadow of his former self.

Yeah, I was wondering that too. I’m willing to get up at 5:00 to watch Roubaix but not for Tour of the Alps. Replay only for me for this race.
