Nothing else to say on this subject.

More PR firm crap, designed to poison the pond of discussion. LieStrong management.

Next, guys like Polish and Flicker will start talking about $34k as if it is factual.

You're schtuffing verds into my mouth. I zaid zat IF ze pharmacists ver wassering-down ze EPO, and IF cancer patients care vas compromised as a rezult, zen DAT vould be ze greatest Fraud.

In a tightly regulated supply chain, do you think the riders are getting stuff taken right out of the manufacturing plant? The missing medicine would be noticed. So someone essentially needs to 1) steal it and 2) replace what they stole so that no one would notice. All of the drug needs to be accounted for, and this is how they account for it. They steal some of it and water-down the batch that remains.

Either this or they need to create a fake dialysis patient.

I remember what you said - you just packed your message more nicely.

But doesn't change the fact that you are talking nonsense nearly every time you touch your keyboard. Perhaps you are distracted by all these movies, movieboy.

Have much fun unpacking it.

He made $34K if I recall and gave it back to the team if I recall... That to me is working for free.

If I recall he said he was getting paid in Hookers and Blow, but he was sharing with the team so that for me is working for free.

this has been making me think that it may be a good strategy for a top tour contender to ask for a minimum wage contract. Then, the team has more money to spend on getting the strongest domestiques. The strongest domestiques>>better results>>more fame>>better endorsments>>more money

carpani is anything BUT a low level UCI employee...

he's one of the very few inner circle old boys whose faithful service stretches back to verbruggen presidency. may be not the sharpest knife in the uci kitchen, but very informed and very far from the naive/'honest' type the swordsman hopes for. he's the guy who made dozens of statements that had to be later backpedaled including the infamous lie by verbruggen about the uci not leaking armstrong's doping control forms to ressiot. he's the guy who later announced uci's zorzoli's 3-months suspension for leaking.

take my word, carpani did not misspeak...

more likely, as i said before, a sign of coming texas demise and the uci's attempts to capitalize on the idea of transparency..

Thanks. I knew he was the top spokesman, but didn't know about the past. Thanks for the knowledge.

I wasn't thinking in terms of him being naive. After reading his recent clarifications, like the detailed one to Tuttobiciweb on Monday that in effect exposed McQuaid had either lied or was totally out of the loop on a case he can't shut up about. In the moment that thought popped into my head, I considered the possibility that he might be fed up with all the BS he sees, and corruption, and might like to see it come out so he can sleep at night - like Landis, like some people are hoping Tyler has in mind. I say that because he seems to give truthful detailed answers, quickly. I didn't know that he had been part of the problem in the past.

I'm not sure that anyone noticed the other interview I quoted earlier about Lance training in Livestrong and Mellow Johnny's kit in 2009, essentially advertising two of his businesses. When asked about it, he said he could do so because he wasn't taking a salary. The full questions and answers are cited in the earlier post.

I've never seen a pic of a guy with a contract training in anything other than team kit. I think it was Cycling Weekly who gave grief to Wiggins and his wife on twitter because they didn't see the argyle on his casual shirt at some event.

My question is, and if it's right, one I'd like to see added as a follow-up to the contract one, is there a UCI regulation that says contracted riders must wear team kit in training? He didn't even wear Astana kit at the first training camp, or in his short time at the California one.

Velonation follow up:
“When Lance returned and raced for Astana his declaration that he would ride for free was his intention, but we were informed by the UCI that per the regulations he had to take a minimum salary,” Mark Higgins told VeloNation this evening.

“When that salary was finally paid out by Astana, that money was passed along as a contribution to his foundation.”

I've got free time, so I'll Google for quotes where he said he didn't have a contract. Next question: if the donation occurred, did he claim it as a deduction, because if so, he still kept part of the salary.

Amazing, I'm glad they clarified this in 2009 and didn't wait until cornered into a negative position.

Oh wai...

Exactly. And let’s be clear here, even if it were true that all the money was passed on to his foundation that’s still not riding for free. It’s being paid a salary and passing it on to a related entity.

To avoid a conflict of interest and be keeping with his statement of ‘riding for free’ it should have been declared at the time, and have been to a charity or foundation that he doesn’t have an interest in. In fact seeing as the team paying his salary was from Kazakhstan and partly government funded I would have thought the best place to donate would have been in Kazahkstan. Then I don’t think anyone could have said his intentions weren’t clear.

Now in just looks like a whole lot of brown muddy water. As usual.
