Obviously he hasn't given up, he is just fighting where he has always had the advantage up to now. The volume of intern generated comments is boggling, the only positive is that most of them are so obvious and over the top that a reasonable reader must be able to see through the charade.

Overall, from what I have seen, the press has been pretty objective and isn't giving Armstrong a lot of credibility. From linked articles found on this thread there are some containing pretty scathing attacks on Wonder-boy. On French radio they are already pointing out that his arbitration refusal was a calculated ploy to ensure the truth doesn't get out and that the jurisdiction issue is only a pretext.

His image, already damaged, must be taking a huge hit even if the fanboys and interns clog up the media. I wonder if even he had calculated the intensity of the reaction.

I especially enjoy the statements from the livestrong foundation ceo or whatever his title is. You can easily see Lance's hand up his back making his mouth move. How laughable.

'Here's something the guy who pays for my multimillion dollar house just wrote for me to say....'

My apologies - they had more than 2 choices, if that makes you happy -they chose the lying, doper, fraud option.

Those that don't care - don't care.

Those that read the headlines see Armstrong did not contest having all Tour stripped - and the details will eventually be exposed, starting with Tyler next month.

Sorry, I prefer nuance. Saves me the trouble of hero worship and trips to Damascus. I get that this isn't a popular option.

I thought Tyler's book wasn't a full tell all? Regardless, his masochism is not going to play with the chuckleheads.

Doesn't say much for the interns at liestrong when they think they are going to work on helping cancer awareness and find themsleves posting in comment section and forums all day!

Hard to believe that so many people have so much intimate knowledge about the precedural failings of USADA. I mean get real, who had heard of USADA before today except those who frequent the clinic.

And they have this poll.....can't even pick an answer :(

Poll: Is Lance Armstrong's legacy tarnished by USADA action?

No, he always tested clean
Possibly, but he deserves his day in court
Somewhat, in part because he's giving up
Yes, it appears most cyclists were dirty

Current results, how depressing:

No, he always tested clean 51.73% (944 votes)

Yes, it appears most cyclists were dirty 25.97% (474 votes)

Possibly, but he deserves his day in court 12.93% (236 votes)

Somewhat, in part because he's giving up 9.37% (171 votes)

It does, good to see Yank journos being so candid, the comments as usual are pure comedy :)

I try not to read any comment section of any article unless I am stumbling drunk. It's usually about the 3rd comment of any non-political article before it turns into a dem's suk/repubs suk food fight. Unless it's a political article, then the food fight comments begin before the article is posted.

Just finished up listening to the Dan Patrick (sports radio talk) show. He interviewed Travis Tygart at the top of the hour then took several phone calls from his audience.

If this is represents the prevailing opinion, Lance will be bigger and more important than ever. Kind of hard to believe the machinations people will go through to continue to gleefully defend and accept a total fraud.

Really unbelievable.

As much as I don't like lance and believe he doped I think kimmage is an idiot as well, The only time I have ever agreed with lance was about his comment about the use of the word cancer - it was out of order, just calling lance a liar and a cheat would have been sufficient

As someone who has seen cancer, i can happily say people who understand the negative impact lance has had on many, and on cycling, that it is in no way belittling of those who have or are suffering from cancer to use what is just a word to describe a man. Cancer is just a word - A malignant invasive growth or tumour (causing division.....). So you are saying LA is not divisive, malignant and invasive in the lives of those who stand up to him? Or just that turning the tables on his use of his shield and the word is not fair? interesting. I'm awaiting brunyeel's turn.

http://www.usada.org/media/sanction-armstrong8242012

"As noted above, Mr. Armstrong challenged the arbitration process in federal court. In response, the court found that “the USADA arbitration rules, which largely follow those of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) are sufficiently robust to satisfy the requirements of due process.” USADA’s rules provide that where an athlete or other person is sanctioned because they fail to contest USADA’s charges in arbitration, the sanction shall not be reopened or subject to appeal unless the athlete or other person can demonstrate that he did not receive actual or constructive notice of the opportunity to contest the sanction. Because Mr. Armstrong could have had a hearing before neutral arbitrators to contest USADA’s evidence and sanction and he voluntarily chose not to do so, USADA’s sanction is final."

This is pretty tight. There is no further appeal and the UCI cannot weasel out of this without losing all credibility (and Olympic participation).

I think people can start making high quality DopeStrong bike jerseys without fear of getting sued now! I want me a DopeStrong jersey!

Guys, don't be depressed that the majority of the population is still behind this sad excuse for a fraud.

Unlike us real cycling fans, most people had been brainwashed by Armstrong's relentless cancer campaign and his larger-than-life Tour de France champion promotions. Most people believe he was really clean because they thought cycling's doping tests were 100% fool-proof and without any understanding of the sport and its past, it's hard for the mass to believe otherwise. Armstrong has successfully turned himself into a cult. Pretty darn hard to do if you ask me, but he did it. So when he played the witch-hunt sympathy card and said he gave up, his fans flocked to him and said, "you've been brave enough all your life, it's OK, we'll speak for you now." Armstrong's influence is simply unprecedented in the history of sports.

I feel sorry for those who believe his innocence. Because these people don't go out and look for the facts themselves and just believe everything Armstrong says because they are so brainwashed. I know what I believe and when I talk to the real cycling fans, we are on the exact same page. That's good enough.

The majority? You're kidding me. The majority either doesn't care about Lance, or thinks he's a doper.
