Remco wants what : gain points for KOm or the stage win? if KOM he goes in early attack but will need teammates, if stagewin he'll has to ride as for GC and keep as much teammates with him till angliru starts, who will chase him when he attacks on Angliru? he's no GC threath..
GC favourites : they'll be waiting to see what JV does
Bardet, Rubio Carthy etc : try early break

If Roglic is really as strong as some people on here believe he is, surely we'll see that today. Ain't nothing holding him back.

Let's see if Jumbo can handle this situation, cause I suppose Kuss and especially Roglic are really pissed off. They will ride Angliru every man for himself, I guess, but I wonder if Remco goes on Cordal, or even earlier, will Roglic follow. I wouldn't be surprised if he does.

This race now needs Remco and/or Ayuso in top form and to attack from the GC group. I really want to see what happens if Kuss can't follow right away.

I'd believe that yesterday made it pretty clear they want it for Vingegaard, if he went rogue as some people have suggested I don't see why Roglic and Kuss would just let him ride away to take a minute on them if that was the case.
If I recall correctly JV made the decision that Vingegaard would go for the Vuelta back in February. Of course it's nice to have a backup plan in Rogla, but I think he was just that: a backup plan. Even though a pretty good one.
It would be nice if today we actually got a race in between Kuss, Roglic and Vingegaard and not another situation where Vingegaard peacefully sails away while Kuss and Roglic wave goodbye and guard his attack.
But for what it's worth I don't believe it matters anymore, Vingegaard will get red today and will keep it.

On Tourmalet five guys finished within 38 seconds. In similar stages last 2 years when Vingegaard put the hammer down the 5th (even the 3rd really) was multiple minutes down and there was only one guy who was even capable of staying within 1 minute. Given how Tourmalet was raced with Vingegaard creating a gap quite early and Ayuso and Mas not 100% committing to a chase with Kuss and Roglic in their wheel the gap he created was not that impressive. When the gap first opened up I was expecting him to gain a whole lot more.
those climbing time dudes are trolls and should not be taken seriously. According to them any good ride from Vingegaard or Evenepoel is the greatest climbing performance ever and the rest suck. No idea who gave them a platform

Reading that, the deal 'was broken' yesterday because Vingegaard really did put his teammates in a difficult situation. But what Niermann really means is Vingegaard can trample all over the other two insofar as he wins.
Because winning is good for Jumbo.
Probably Vinge will cry in the interview "so happy with the win... and it is Kuss birthday as well. All of us are on the podium. So emotional right now".

There's a huge difference between not braking or gifting and actively attacking him which is what they were doing yesterday.
Remco will be in the break with Hirt and Cattaneo. This way he has the best chance to win the stage.

Maybe Kuss isn't unhappy right now (he always seems happy after hard stages!) but I think Primoz may feel some frustration. He will go for it today. I think everybody will care for their own business on the steepest sections anyway as aero drag is almost nothing at 15- kph speeds. Those 6-7 km will be like a slow-motion ITT but without time intervals between riders.
One could agree with that if it would be true. That is if agreements would be respected and one leader wouldn't put another in uncomfortable position. I agree that they want for Jonas to win this race.
Will he, though? We'll find out soon. As who knows, maybe somebody will put Jonas in an uncomfortable position. And JV upper management will cover it. As what else are they going to do.

I think his only chance is if Godzilla suddenly appears out of nowhere before the riders get there & destroys the summit of the Angliru for reasons.
I feel Vingegaard is going to smash this climb.
My only 'hope' is Rog has been saving himself a little for today (like he did for Monte Lussari). It's a disgusting climb & based on what happened last time, it's barely even 'bike racing'. It's just survival.
Another problem today is line of sight amongst the spectators, i.e. 3 years ago the climb was off limits for the public during Covid, so dropped riders could still see the guys 20 seconds (& probably about barely 50 meters) up the road. Today, it'll be like it was when Chris Horner demolished Nibali on the Angliru, i.e. once you lose the wheel, there's a sea of spectators + motorcycles blocking the view.
The only question remained to be answered is will JV master minds piss themself in the car or not. Seeing their plan unfold. As is. We'll see.

Yes, I think Rogla was saving himself a bit. He usually knows how to keep his bullets for most important occasions. I have no doubt he'll go a bloc today. Wheather it will be enough or not is another matter: both his teammates have a considerable gap over him and Skeletor seems to be improving.
