I'm thinking the time is ripe for Degenkolb this year. I don't know why, I'm just feeling it

That said, Degenkolb is the second biggest favorite to win, especially since he climbs a lot better than Kristoff.
This is the same Degenkolb who cleaned up at the Vuelta though and then got sick before the RR, still coming one place behind Kristoff.

Just ignore this post (SEE BELOW)

And beating Kristoff after 300 km's? Good luck (just take a look at last year's MSR or last year's Worlds).

Lobato is my pick. Fourth last year and very impressive this year already. I don't quite understand why he didn't ride Paris-Nice or Tirreno-Adriatico, but then this approach worked for him last year.

I like Cav but I'm hoping QS don't put all their eggs in his basket for the sake of the race. Difficult to see any escape making it with that lot chasing them down.

His form was already excellent in Andalucía, so he didn't really need those extra racing kms. Instead he chose to do some specific and long training rides for Sanremo.

I hope you're right btw for money reasons :p

I can't see the poll results and even though I can vote repeatedly, it doesn't seem to actually register my vote. Anyone else have this problem?

anyway, I'm thinking degenkolb

Sure, but take another look at that WCRR sprint. Kristoff lead the peloton the last 6-700 metres and noone was able to pass him anyway.

Going with Kristoff.

But hoping Gilbert can win Solo ! Would be great if he can an a MSR win to his palmares.

Cimolai could do well, but Lampre will find a way to screw things up...
With some luck we could get a little bit of rain, without Le Manie this race really needs bad weather.

Same problem.

Thinking Lobato or maybe a darker horse.

Based on the profile and the weather forecast, this (unfortunately) will be one for the sprinters. Kristoff, Degenkolb, Cavendish, perhaps Demare. And of course Sagan.

Hope this is the last time without Le Manie. It's also about time they tried to include Pompeiana.

Pompeina can wait. Le manie is a must though. It's too easy now.
Add le manie and keep the finish at the via roma. Perfect san remo.

It should be a close call between sprinters/attackers, but right now I think it's too easy.

Btw, as far as I know Le Manie and Pompeiana are still not properly restored after the landslides in 2014.

So I do freakimg hope they will be restored next year.

I don't get the problem with allowing the sprinters a monument.

The problem is that Milano San Remo used to be a race which was very hard to predict. A very close line between power of fastest riders and late attackers left us no clue who could actually win this. The race witnessed great solo efforts (Saroni, Tchmil), duels face to face (Kelly/Argentin, Fignon/Fondriest), and triangles (Bettini/Celestino/Paolini, Gerrans/Cancelara/Nibali). It seems, however, that the peleton is too strong nowadays and almost everyone predicts the race will end up with mass sprint again. La Manie is a subtle change which could make some sprinters and their teammates more vulnerable. This, in combination with coming back to 'via Roma' could possily make this race just a little harder to predict again. And poll would include riders like Gallopin, Kwia, GVA, Gilbert or even Valverde as well as sprinters we could see there now.

Meh, the sprinters win too many races already. I'd be fine with them not having a big chance at a monument. Besides, versatile sprinters do have chances at Flanders and especially Roubaix. Degenkolb, Kristoff, Sagan, Matthews, Démare, etc...I don't think one-dimensional sprinters like Cav and Kittel deserve a chance at a monument. They've got a shot at worlds every few years.

Why should the sprinters have a monument? The pure climbers don't have a monument either. It's the explosive climbers/hilly specialists like Valverde, Gilbert, Gerrans and Rodriguez who wins in LBL and Lombardia.

The same applies for the sprinters. There should be necessary with a minimum of versaility to win a monument. A guy like Degenkolb is ok, but MSR should be difficult enough to rule out the pure sprinters who can't climb at all. Cipressa and Poggio alone is probably not enough to make this happen. Le Manie do make a difference, and should therefore be back as soon as possible. I also think they should consider replacing Cipressa with Pompeiana. That would make it easier to attack before Poggio and still have a decent chance to stay clear of the peloton.

You can get Valverde @ 100/1 currently. :-O

As an each way bet (i.e. to finish in the top 3) that is amazing. He pretty much always makes the final selection - even if he rarely wins :)
