Wiggins knows what 'not making the grade' feels like. He didn't quite make the grade on the road did he. Seemed bitter about it too.

So funny that Wiggins wants to set up a women's cycling team. Some of the ladies who ride for that team are in for a shock!

have no women team: oh those misoginist dont care about women cycling

have a women team: those *** will bully those girls

you see? it´s a lose-lose situation, there´s nothing that will make you say: "I´fine, kudos for the sponsor to build women team while the women peloton and racing always have low budgets and few people interested in splashing the cash"

Re: Re:

Pastronef, you're wrong if you think this has any bearing on the Wigans doping/cheating/lying question. It doesn't. We already know he dopes, cheats and lies on the basis of tons of other, previous evidence.
So it's only logical to review his current actions against the knowledge of him being a liar, cheat and redneck doper. So knowing that, yes, any rational person should put major question marks behind his plans to start a women cycling team.

well, if you look at pro cycling "any rational person should put major question marks behind any plan to start any cycling team"

Really? since when?

I would've thought the other women's team gets along 'fine' without Wiggins and Shane Sutton or similar idiots/misogynists.

I doubt Wiggins is putting his money in women's cycling to boost the sport!! Look at his so called charity that failed.

Will Shane be the DS?

I think Sutton is to 'big' to run a women's cycling team.

China track squad for next Olympics?

Was an attempt at humour, can you imagine it though? :surprised:

Declan Lynch

They are obliged to tell us their "stories", describing how they made these massive improvements due to "marginal gains", and advances in sports science in general, and because they just want it more than the other guys. And they are probably astonished that grown-up people are actually believing this stuff, or that they want to believe it, not all of them, but enough of them to sustain the notion that yes, it's all about "marginal gains" and advances in sports science and wanting it more than the other guys.

Nail firmly hit on the head.

Should probably be posted in PRR section as a) it's not really about doping but mainly b) a wider audience should see this as these views are, frankly, horrible.

True. I posted it here because many of the adoring fans who defended him here didn't just believe he was clean, but refused to accept saint wiggo could do anything wrong. Anything wigo does becomes the moral position and anyone who's says anything less than perfect about wiggo, must now be discredited.

So I wanted to see them deal with that. But you are right. Has anyone posted it in the prr thread yet?

No worries, makes sense, I just thought it should also be seen by a wider audience as it could be discussed outside the clinic. Yeah, I posted it in the Wiggins thread when I saw it here. I also posted another article which expanded on his views where he apparently said that he thought the was a "mole" in the camp trying to sabotage them.

I have no problem with Wiggins investing in a women's team - the more high profile names that attach themselves to the sport, the better.

The more pertinent question for me is, am I comfortable with someone with Wiggins' views being in the sport? Is the trade off worth it.

Pragmatically - yes. His involvement, if it happens, should have a positive impact on the sport. All the better if he is the magnet for sponsors and investment but stays behind the scenes. I suspect his commitment to the women's sport is akin to Cookson's - it's a nice piece of PR fluff that makes him look good but doesn't actually have to be actioned. Somewhat like the charity/not actually a charity.

I'll believe it when I see it. Not because I don't expect a women's madison, but more because the current track program has just kicked out all of the interesting endurance track events which have elements of chance, tactics and develop over time, and left us with nothing but short distance burst events like the team sprint and keirin. I'd love to see a much more balanced Olympic track program brought back. Sprint, IP, TP, Points or Madison, Omnium. No team sprint, ever. If we can get it, the kilo back in place of the BMX, but I don't think that will be possible now.

So over the course of his career, Wiggins has had 3 TUEs for triamcinolone acetonide, one just before the 2011 Tour, one just before the 2012 Tour, and one just before the 2013 Giro

Nothing to see here

Could you elaborate on what it does ?
