Even the live feed commentary at the CN website had a pop at him.
A coach, whom I won't name, worked with Sky during the fall of 2012 and predicted that Wiggins would have a terrible upcoming 2013 season due to overdoing things way too early -- he was right. He also stated that he thought Sky was not at all "cutting edge" in its training concepts/methods.
Dear Wiggo said:There were on average 3 news reports / day in UK about Wiggins not being selected for 2014 Tour.
You'd think he'd go for a Swiss showing to prove a point, but uh no.
Spitting the dummy / sulking sounds about right, innit? Lazy, bone-idle, etc, etc.
Whatever happened to the gears and the further distance for the same power from 2012?
The Hitch said:Reminds me of one of the bigger Wiggins fans I've seen on the internet (elsewhere) who is adamant that Andy schleck is an obvious doper because his performance fell off so much after his tour win.
Yet of course for brad is ok, because if you take the trouble to get to know him (read all the fawning positive pieces about him, disregard the bad ones as tabloid journalism) you can understand that he is just unmotivated is all.
Of course he never took the time to get to know Andy schleck. Not being British not waving the gb flag, no need. Smell test is enough. -worse now=doper.
But this is how these people think.

edit: i see, he seems interested in very skinny riders (also fotos there of rasmussen and froome)

But he can't climb right? Being in the heads of state group at the Tour de France totally within expected limits for someone who couldn't finish top 100 on a mountain until he was 30![]()

In the 2006 Tour de France, Wiggins rode his heart out and finished 124th, almost three and a half hours behind the winner, Floyd Landis. Then he heard the news that Landis had tested positive. “I felt physically sick when I heard the news,” he wrote in his autobiography. “My first reaction was purely selfish and related only to me. You b****** Landis,’ I thought. ‘You have completely ruined my own small achievement of getting around the Tour de France and being a small part of cycling history. You and guys like you are p***ing on my sport and my dreams. Why do guys like you keep cheating? How many of you are out there, taking the p*** and getting away with it? Sod you all. You are a bunch of cheating b******* and I hope one day they catch the lot of you and ban you all for life. You can keep doing it your way and I will keep doing it mine. You won’t ever change me, you sods. B******s to all of you. At least I can look at myself in the mirror.”
Dear Wiggo said:So uh.
Wiggo rides the Comm games soon - with pretty much sweet FA track time. Clearly we'll have to see how he performs, but Sutto reckons he will be fine.
Just curious what the posters who went on and on about Wiggo needing to dedicate time to the track to perform, leaving his road palmares destitute have to say about this apparent contradiction?
Wallace and Gromit said:Let's see how he goes first, shall we?
A 4:15 in the IP might raise a few questions, whereas a 4:25, whilst creditable probably wouldn't.
Is he riding the TP?
Wiggins, who has been putting in some light practice on the track in recent weeks,
...
He joins Ed Clancy, Steven Burke, Andy Tennant and Jon Dibben in the line-up, where he will bid to add to the three silver medals he won in 1998 and 2002.
Shane Sutton said of Wiggins’ return: “I’m very happy to be able to welcome Sir Bradley back to the track team for the Commonwealth Games – his addition will be a real morale boost to the rest of the track squad.
“The decision of who will ride what event will be made nearer the time.”

Sir Bradley Wiggins only competing in team pursuit at Commonwealth Games (could have been in individual pursuit, road race & time trial too)

I am not wanting to enter into any discussions aboutDear Wiggo said:That said - someone elsewhere mentioned he did a 4:13 in training. How is it he went 2 seconds quicker in training than his best time ever in comp?
Or was it like the recent Giro MTT where the last rider can pace themselves to perfection, and win, without going all out?
Would also explain how Wiggins managed to so reliably back up his qualifying times in the heats or final - he was never going au bloc.
oldcrank said:I am not wanting to enter into any discussions about
doping, but I'd be happy to address your (seemingly
sincere) question about 'faster in training.'
It is really not that uncommon because:
(1) you can warm-up on the track, perhaps even
behind the derny, instead of having your final race
preparations on the rollers and having to fit into the
carnival schedule;
(2) the pads may not be out allowing you to save a
few metres and allowing you to focus totally on
riding and not on missing the pads;
(3) there is probably a pace-line of riders warming-up
above the blue line that will also give you a bit of an
advantage as well.
