Who do you think Vermeersch will ride for?
That was a rethorical question.
Vermeersch already knew what to do before the start: set the pace before mount Kigali (he isn't even supposed to race beyond that climb). That's something that is as beneficial for Pogacar as for Remco, so there is no conflict of interest and thus not really relevant when discussing country teams vs. trade teams.

I think Pogacar has 3 realistic possibilities for a rogue satellite rider who is realistic enough to be there deep

V$ne, who will command a huge price after his recent wins
Sivakov, who the Belgians will just assume is Slovenian and not let go anyway after last years antics
Christen, who will agree to do it and then just forget what he's supposed to be doing after 20 seconds and go on the attack

Ivo might not last long enough

So we’ll all find it completely normal if Roglic would ride for Evenepoel later in the race?

the french look decimated by sickness

Also Vermeersch was brought for the first part of the race indeed. no one is expecting anything of him after reaching the 100k mark till the finish.

Big blow for remco though, van wilder crash.

You act as though people always ride for the trade teams at worlds when it really isn't the case very often.

No, I don't act like that. My take is that the default behaviour is to follow country team tactics in World's. You read things that simply aren't there. I only argued that some riders simply have no better option to even think about deflecting from those tactics (like Vermeersch), so in those cases, discussing options that aren't there, isn't relevant.

Depends what country you're from. It's been a known issue in the lowlands.
And I know belgium made a big fuzz when Roglic failed to do any work for Van Aert, even though he could no longer win, nor was there in that race a slovenian that could win.

It has gotten to some people head it seems, this topic.

On the case of Vermeersch.... it would be unforgivable of him to ride for Pog here. He is Belgian and they have Remco in the team, that is his leader.

I dont know why people think this is a thing.

Ofcourse it would be. Vermeersch could have taken the Wellens route if he did not want to ride for Remco against Pogacar. Which i do not agree with (wellens decision), but it's considered acceptable.
