Pardilla I don't know how to evaluate. He's down for the Giro and he's a good stage racer but I don't know how he'll go over 3 weeks. He was good in the Volta. Just a reasonable showing in a GT - say top 30 - will sort that out, I suspect he's more likely to come into his own late in the season, say at the Vuelta. Moreno (Bazan) is now at Caja Rural. He's still got chances of showing good in Asturias and in various .1 races. I expect a Caja Rural wildcard at the Vuelta, and if not he will be useful at Burgos or Portugal. He's one of those riders like Goubert who just accumulates decent results without ever being noticed.
Blanco I picked up before Geox weren't invited to the Tour so I thought he'd get free reign at probably the Vuelta. He's still a decent buy with only 300 points used considering he's a strong time triallist and a pretty good climber. However I fear that, like Niemiec, he'll be being used more as a domestique. On the other hand, if he drops time he could be a good bet for a week 3 ITT win when the specialists have gone home, or a good GC in a late week 2 break.
All were calculated gambles, and though I'm concerned that none have paid off thus far, the main races I picked them for haven't happened yet, so I'm cautiously hopeful. I'm quite unhappy about Cardoso because I thought Tavira would definitely do Asturias, but they are the only Portuguese not there. And I would have picked Broco but he cost too much from his Volta GC last year - with LA and Barbot snaffling up all the invites for Portuguese teams I'm going to need him to podium the Volta to solve that problem. I'm also gutted I subbed out Santí Pérez too as he's been a good performer thus far in the season, and he always targets Asturias as it's his home race.
On the other hand, LA-Antarte are one of my favourite teams so it's good to see them doing more international races. Just not so good for my CQ team.
