Similar the year before between Andy and Contador.

Uphil sprints can definitely create bigger gaps than mountains, recent history has proven that, that's what Contador was referring to. I don't get why you gotta that comment?

I alread said this once to you, you should be grateful that Contador rides the giro. Now people will actually watch it cause recent editions have been absolutely terrible.

I always want to watch a competive GT. 2015 Giro doesn't cut it. We'll gladly watch a leveled field with Uran and co.

I'm not sure why I should be grateful about that, considering that if he comes in full shape will blast the field, while if he comes in not good shape he'll race conservatively and win by 1 km attacks and the ITT.

Anyway no, uphill sprints cannot create bigger gaps than real mountains can. Recent history has not proven anything of the sort.

I think it is very likely we'll see bigger gaps between Contador and Froome on the explosive finishes than in the mountains.

Quintana and Nibali is another story, Contador is more explosive than them but I believe they will not be near AC and CF in the high mountains

The journo writes some damn good bull**** there... like listing Indurain between the gc guys who never cared about other races but the tdf, or like hinting that the 60 km ITT will not favour AC... And then AC nails it stating that in the tdf the uphill sprints of Huy and Bretagne could make more gaps than the big mountains and that the 2011 Giro was maybe one of the hardest routes in history (clear example of a professional who knows **** about his own sport).

Rest assured, he also said reasonable and nice things.

EDIT: Oh, and apparently the Giro wasn't televised in Spain in the 90's. Is that true? Really? Hard to believe, with Indurain in contention...

Yes, in the hilly sprints he can take more time on Froome than on all mountain stages combined.
