Magrini today said that Saronni hinted that UAE could take him to the Tour instead of Gaviria.

Tour de Suisse should tell us mroe about his form, hopefully he's back to his best or close at least.

He looks surprisingly good, considering the fact that the initial prognosis was three months of rest post-surgery.

Let's wait until the real mountains start, but yeah I'm positively surprised as well.

Riding the Tour sounds like a terrible idea to me. Stressful flat stages + shape is not there yet + too much media attention, I don't like it.
Should ride Adriatica Ionica, Poland and/or Burgos to prepare for the Vuelta.

This, he probably also lacks the base to do anything after potentially riding himself into shape in the Tour. I guess that means that Gaviria won't be able to start because of his knee problems.
Still, it's not a good idea.

He won't be riding for GC so expectations will be muted. Finishing the race in the top 50 and getting in a couple of breaks are reasonable goals.

Personally I wouldn't rush him into a Tour de France participation and stress him out. Especially because he already showed quite promising shape in Switzerland. No need really to risk too much too early IMHO.

No way should Fab Fabio do TdF - watching him at TdS should have been enough.

Why is that? If he's cleared to race by the docs, and his preparation is at least nice considering his TdS results...
He's got a chance of winning a stage.
Considering he's a pro rider and his team clearly needs him to grab something at the most important race in the calendar...

He’s getting better. Not gonna win the Vuelta but I think he should be back 100% next season. Earned my respect this year for the way he has ridden.

Terrific ride today. Got kinda worried when he complained about leg pain after the TTT crash, but he looks to be getting back to him best level.

Good ride, he's in the top 10. Finishing there would be a good stepping stone to a full power season next year.
