I think it's funny that we don't know the nature of the subpoena. He's got to appear in court to give testimony, but we have no idea whether it's in his own defence or to give evidence in a case against someone else.

I'm not sure why everyone is assuming that Johan has been served with a subpoena. Why couldn't it be a summons and complaint?

I'm also not sure of the basis for the conclusion that Johan has been served by an agent for the United States.

I am NOT (repeat NOT) (repeat NOT NOT) (repeat NOT NOT REALLY NOT) saying that Johan has not been served with a subpoena by an agent of the United States. I'm just looking for a report that supports that conclusion.

Here's a thought. What if the announced closure of the investigation was a feint, meant to lure Johan back into the US? Isn't that a possibility? In any case, I'm not sure Lance is sleeping all that soundly at the moment.

I think it is more likely that a decision was made to kill the criminal investigation and handle the situation civilly. With treble damages, there is $90 million to be recovered for the Postal Service.

A question I have is what happens to Michael Ball. He seems like low hanging fruit that would be easy to pick. Why let him off?

For the more devious-minded conspiracy theorists, here is the official announcement:

United States Attorney André Birotte Jr. today announced that his office is closing an investigation into allegations of federal criminal conduct by members and associates of a professional bicycle racing team owned in part by Lance Armstrong.

In the BJ article Fabani called Lance and said it was over “forever”. Maybe it’s over for Lance but Hog and Tailwind need to front and deal with the charges? I hope that all the tax returns were filed on time? I also hope that none of Postal money was laundered to purchase supplements. I think the Hog always fancied himself as a bit of part time Doctor when delivering the meds. I hope they had a prescription and were purchased correctly? I’d hate to think they were administered by say a bus driver!

It was difficult reading the BJ article. I had to keep looking over my shoulder so no one could see what I was looking at.

I just get PO'd that people know something, but what they know is meaningless without full and proper context.

Johan got served something. Could be anything. Perhaps even unrelated. If someone knows differently, then they should divulge.
