I think it's funny that we don't know the nature of the subpoena. He's got to appear in court to give testimony, but we have no idea whether it's in his own defence or to give evidence in a case against someone else.

I'm not sure why everyone is assuming that Johan has been served with a subpoena. Why couldn't it be a summons and complaint?

I'm also not sure of the basis for the conclusion that Johan has been served by an agent for the United States.

I am NOT (repeat NOT) (repeat NOT NOT) (repeat NOT NOT REALLY NOT) saying that Johan has not been served with a subpoena by an agent of the United States. I'm just looking for a report that supports that conclusion.

Here's a thought. What if the announced closure of the investigation was a feint, meant to lure Johan back into the US? Isn't that a possibility? In any case, I'm not sure Lance is sleeping all that soundly at the moment.

Maybe he was served a hamburger?

Johan has started to babble about leaks. Good of him to admit it happened

How many negatives equal a positive? I'm confused. What are you saying?
Can someone please provide Mark with a photo of JB having an Oops-I-Crapped-My-Pants moment at the airport?

Hard to believe that this relates to Floyd.

Nah. Nothing at all to do with Floyd. All about Johann.
Wait for the After School Special. It'll be a real tear-jerker.

I think it is more likely that a decision was made to kill the criminal investigation and handle the situation civilly. With treble damages, there is $90 million to be recovered for the Postal Service.

A question I have is what happens to Michael Ball. He seems like low hanging fruit that would be easy to pick. Why let him off?

He's the one ball left on the court.

For the more devious-minded conspiracy theorists, here is the official announcement:

United States Attorney André Birotte Jr. today announced that his office is closing an investigation into allegations of federal criminal conduct by members and associates of a professional bicycle racing team owned in part by Lance Armstrong.

The United States Attorney determined that a public announcement concerning the closing of the investigation was warranted by numerous reports about the investigation in media outlets around the world.

Mr. Birotte commended the joint investigative efforts of his prosecutors and special agents with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Postal Service - Office of the Inspector General.

Mr. Birotte is only speaking about "his office," and we know that the US Attorney for the Southern District of California (another office, run by Laura Duffy) is conducting a bike-related investigation that involves at least Fraudulent Floyd. Could more be happening down south? Could the investigations have been consolidated?

yes like 'Pooh and Piglet Catch a Heffalump'

"Where should they dig the Very Deep Pit? Piglet said that the best place would be somewhere where a Heffalump was, just before he fell into it, only about a foot further on."

:D

I'm not sure that's the kind of honey trap Hog meant...

In the BJ article Fabani called Lance and said it was over “forever”. Maybe it’s over for Lance but Hog and Tailwind need to front and deal with the charges? I hope that all the tax returns were filed on time? I also hope that none of Postal money was laundered to purchase supplements. I think the Hog always fancied himself as a bit of part time Doctor when delivering the meds. I hope they had a prescription and were purchased correctly? I’d hate to think they were administered by say a bus driver!

I think we can all agree it is not over

BJ article also had Lance babbling about leaks, even though he knows the leak investigation produced nothing.

If that's the case, maybe there is a lot more brewing down in San Diego.

Plenty.

There's the witnesses and then there is the data. And I imagine the data is compelling.

We still don't know who served Bruyneel and what Bruyneel was served with. Do we?

This is not a personal attack but your posts amuse me. You make assumption on top of assumption, without links, if it suits your argument, but you suddenly become king of the footnotes when it doesn't suit you. It's odd.

It was difficult reading the BJ article. I had to keep looking over my shoulder so no one could see what I was looking at.

Appears it not over. Interesting developments. Hog and Lance were a tight nit team. I’m sure they're both are telling the same story.

I'm not challenging the point that Bruyneel was served (REALLY NOT, REALLY). I'm just interested in knowing who served him, and with what. It does appear that nobody knows. Maybe we'll find out soon enough.

Without having to read all the love posts does anyone know the WHO, and WHAT particulars on this?

Seems that all that is known at this point is when (San Francisco international airport SFO).

I mean I like a good OJ bronco chase just like everyone else and I also like wedding invite pics of the Hog and his bride but so far nothing in this thread comes close to those wedding pics.

I just get PO'd that people know something, but what they know is meaningless without full and proper context.

Johan got served something. Could be anything. Perhaps even unrelated. If someone knows differently, then they should divulge.

"Sources say"... but are the sources just people who post on message boards?
