I'm not saying he shouldn't. He definitely should. I'm saying he can do whatever he want because he is promised by the team to go for his own glory. People shouldn't complain as much about this, and stop the over the top hating on him.
He can do whatever he wants, and in turn everyone can hate him as much as they want. I want to hate him, and I should complain about him even louder.

I call it Napierian relativism.

Sure, I just find it disproportionate, and it's clear where most of the hate comes from. The same people that were cheering when he had to drop out of the Giro, and hoped he would fail there.

But I'm not saying he shouldn't go for his own glory. I'm actually pushing a theory that 2 stage wins from Ayuso are better for UAE than him babysitting Almeida to finish second behind Vingegaard, especially that he would finish second anyway.
All I'm saying is, at least sometimes, he should give some help to his leader and not doing it simply not good.

It would be difficult to define "leadership" and "domestic duties" within a legal contract. What would "leadership" mean - how would it confer an obligation on teammates unless they sign up to it?

Sounds like he has earned a bad image over a long time.
I only found him overrated as a cyclist, but never had a problem with how he was riding because UAE does what UAE does. It's only because he didn't help Pogacar last year that that hate really exploded. Sounds like it has more to do with that, than not helping anyone in general.

The guy is 22 years old. And if it's really stipulated in his contract that he gets to ride for himself in a grand tour every year, like @Berniece says it's as much UAE's fault as his own (or his manager) that he sticks to that agreement.

I hope for Ayuso's sake that he will have a similar no-pull clause in his future contract. Otherwise Trek might force him to do lead outs for Pedersen. I mean he can't do any worse than the team they have brought to this race.

I'm not a Pog hater. I was over the mon when he beat Visma/Rogla in 2020, I had just praises for his Flanders wins and the wild world championships and I wanted him to win Roubaix. but now I'd like more competition in grand tours, so I side for Visma and Jonas. and the haters made me an Ayuso fan.
Do you think Ayuso is right?

his stance, his ways are wrong. ok. but *** sake having tweeps and posters act like judges on their high horses. I preferred ten years ago when it was just sheer hate and vitriol "just because Sky existed" without any "justice" or "loyalty" being claimed important.

no, he's not right. but I don't care. the sudden hate and obsession of some Pog fans, and of many Spanish and Portuguese haters immediately made me cheer for him, right or wrong.
First: at least you can acknowledge he is wrong. So you don't defend him thinking he is right. You defend him becauae you kinda feel sorry for him. It's different.

Second: you know Ayuso is the "villain" but you still support him because the vast majority of people (rightly) are criticizing him? Good to know. You also support criminals when they commit a crime?

I support Ayuso BECAUSE OF SENTENCES LIKE THOSE. I absolutely support him cause you and others talk to me and to him from you rightful, just, fair and warm and fuzzy place and lo and behold how dared he! I CHEER FOR HIM BECAUSE OF THAT
"do you also support criminals yadda yadda". WTF WTF. WHATTTHEUTTERFAAK!!!

are you aware you put "criminals" and "Ayuso" in the same phrase?

half a minute ago I was less of a fan of Ayuso than I am now after you post. just because. I'm a straight edge Ayuso fan, me parto el culo

@Peyroteo94 I really want to read the comments Matxin liked. I am not ironic, I'm just curious. I've said way before tdf last year that there has to be a conflict between different DS in the team.
