Control him how? All they can really do is terminate his contract - which is what they've done
He's with UAE since 2021. They (should) know him well enough to know how to manage/motivate him. He came to the Vuelta, knowing he was leaving the team. If UAE doesn't know how to handle one of their athletes, who's been with them for 4 years, then they are incompetent.

"If the team can't control him then it's the team's fault, Ayuso did nothing wrong" is some crazy talk, even Ryu didn't go that far for Betancur
I never said he did nothing wrong, but he clearly thinks that. And this fact, I blame on the team. He's been with UAE long enough to know his role and what it means to work with others.

Of course he can do whatever he likes, he is the one on the bike, but everyone is watching. Not only his team, but other teams and riders as well. I'm sure word goes around inside the peloton. This will for sure be like the AG2R-Betancur thing. The future will tell us who was right.

We know who is right. This doesn't change the fact UAE played this poorly.

And taking off his jersey in the celebration (to not show the sponsor). Gold moment, make it real Ayuso!
There are more subtle ways of doing that, as Arensman showed in Sierra Nevada '22

"I would like to finish my career with this team well, but it seems impossible. I don't understand why UAE made a statement without informing me. This is a dictatorship, a unilateral act directed against me. They are trying to damage my reputation," he said, indicating that he was unaware of the announcement.

"After this lack of respect for each other, it is difficult to integrate. For the sake of my teammates, I want to finish in the best possible way. My relationship with them, including Almeida, is good. He deserves my support," Ayuso said to numerous microphones and cameras. He stressed, however, that "I am very happy that the decision is now known, and next year will be great." Speaking without hesitation, Ayuso said, among other things, that the team told him that he could still be happy, that the tone of the original press release was much harsher towards him.
