Moose McKnuckles said:A few years from now, we'll be having the same discussions about Cookson that we're having now about McQuaid.
Most of you already know this too.
Moose McKnuckles said:Do you know what "prejudice" means?
Nobody is "prejudiced" against the list you've offered. There is plenty of evidence on which to base suspicion of the Brits, Sky, UCI, and Murdoch.
Dont blaime Brian:Moose McKnuckles said:If Cookson knew nothing then he has no business being president of the UCI, since he's clearly clueless about the goings-on in cycling.
UCI International Commissaire (1986 - 2009) incl. Olympic Games, multiple World Championships and international stage races

JimmyFingers said:It means you pre-judge something or someone, which is the perfect way to describe how people are reacting to Cookson. Judged before he's even been elected. Why? He's in charge of BC, has Sky links, which has Murdoch links, and has been a member of the UCI under McQuaid's watch.
And 'evidence to base suspicion on' is an oxymoron. If you have evidence you can be certain, not merely suspicious.
And FYI oxymoron isn't an insult, just in case.
JimmyFingers said:Strawman, very good, well done.

Hold on - you wrote thisMoose McKnuckles said:That makes ZERO sense. Cookson is much closer to being in the know than me, and I can smell the putrid stench coming from McQuaid and Verbruggen. Apparently, Cookson's awareness isn't very well developed as he offered his support as early as this year to McQuaid's re-election bid. He'd make a poor choice for UCI chief, though it seems competent choices are few and far between.
BroDeal said:You might have more credibility if you knew what a strawman is.
Don't make ludicrous charges of people not trusting Cookson because he is British if you don't want to be called on it.
Is that a fact or is it just a subjective judgement by you?JimmyFingers said:I've experienced.
JimmyFingers said:I've experienced a tremendous amount of prejudice and antipathy on this board towards the British. It has been consistent throughout the time I have been here, peaking throughout the Olympics. It's here, it happens.

Next candidate please.

Given history, I'd have thought if there were any prejudice would be favorable.
I want to be clear, yes, being a commissairi since 1986 makes you part of the inner circle.Dr. Maserati said:You mentioned upthread how Cookson was part of the inner circle - I want you to be clear, is being a Commissaire since 86 that you are part of that inner circle?
Thats a pretty big inner circle.Fearless Greg Lemond said:I want to be clear, yes, being a commissairi since 1986 makes you part of the inner circle.
Damn, all that time wasted being a Commisaire looking at riders a$$es when all he had to do was read Cyclingnews.Fearless Greg Lemond said:Not his background in landscaping, for sure.
Cookson being part of the UCI since 1986 and seeing what went on, not even the epo - revo but also the Hein Verbruggen revo which meant commercialisation and globalisation of the sport, he was a firsthand withness, loving it. It lead to him becoming the big man of British Cycling, just check his CV, he has done well.
If he didnt like it he would have stepped down.
Losing vortex time doc. You can do better, at least I hope for your sake. Another question perhaps? Or has Saint J. of V. instructed otherwise?Dr. Maserati said:Thats a pretty big inner circle.

DirtyWorks said:Red_flanders, the same goes for your comment. Claiming discussion about legitimate doubts regarding a months-long sudden and overwhelming domination of a grand tour squad is some kind of nationalist screed is wrong. Maybe some malcontent somewhere posted something, but that has not been the norm.

BroDeal said:American hicks thought they experienced a tremendous amount of anti-American prejudice and antipathy when people were pointing out Armstrong's obvious doping. I guess that happens when someone makes a doper the flag bearer of national identity.
