Judging from your calls for Indurain to be exposed as a doper, I would've thought you'd be happy to see Armstrong busted. I guess we're not the hypocrites around here.

No I want the grand jury shut down without indictments. I want Indurain's palmares left alone too.

Except that the GJ and the investigation is about potential criminal activity, not whether or not Armstrong was doping. If even a fraction of what we've heard is true, it's gone way beyond the simple question of whether some bike racers were doping.

fair enough. If we don't hear from Jeff Novitsky by October, November, then it is likely over, no?

No - because then USADA (who have been sitting in with the FED's) would start their investigations in to him.

November is a long time away and I think we will be hearing from Mr. Novitzky long before then.

The criminal aspect would be, perhaps, but I don't think the doping question is going to go away so easily, especially as I doubt we're finished with the revelations from various sources of what went on at USPS. We've heard that as many as a dozen USPS riders have testified before the GJ - what happens when all of that testimony is leaked, as it inevitably will be, or otherwise goes public? Which is all to say, this ain't just going to disappear.

But in any case, do you really think the investigation would still be ongoing if they weren't finding anything? I think if that were the case, Novitzky would've wrapped it up a long time ago, as his reputation is very much on the line here as well.

I just don't see anyway that Armstrong comes out of this unsullied. I think the more relevant question is to what extent the damage is going to be.

I agree. Is the investigation still on going? One substantial hurdle to it is The Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure which "prescribe that a grand jury must have from sixteen to twenty-three members and that an indictment may issue only if at least 12 jurors concur.[18]

It is inconceivable that indictments won't be handed out soon.

Oh raceradio, tell us what you see in your crystal ball.

if i were the feds and wanted maximum effect/embarrassment from my armstrong indictments i'd drop them during a major cycling event and it would also be great if it were a slow period for other pro sports in the US. if only there was a major event on the cycling calendar with these characteristics happening sometime soon? i'm stumped, does anyone else know of a major event that would work? ;)

edit: by drop I mean deliver, ie drop in your lap - not dropping the charges!

I will feel quite silly if the indictments do not come down eventually.
After all, you can NOT have a Witch Hunt without Indictments and a Trial.

But I am not worrried in the least.
This is a Witch Hunt and Indictments are coming.
And there is no hurry btw.
Job security and a pension at the end for the Feds.
8 years and counting for Barry, and at least that long for Lance.
Absolutely zero reasons for the Feds to rush.
Better to take their time really.

That said, I predicted the Indictments would happen by St Valentines Day.
I was wrong I admit.
But they will come before hell freezes over I say now

I think I might know of one, a miraculous one with known miracles, but I am not sure.

You see that sport's governing body has assured us that there is no doping in that event, because there will be no positive tests anymore. The athletes are so strongly opposed to doping that they even donate their own money to the sport's leadership.

Thus, announcing charges during that particular even might be met with a considerable amount of incredulity. Nobody would believe them.

ha..I was also going to mention this. I am expecting during said event that some legal fireworks will also be popping.
..not to put words in anyone's mouth, but I think a couple of other in-the-know posters here have mentioned this too.
can't. wait. ;)

Perhaps I missed it in this thread but is it true that Floyd put up the .net site? On another forum they say it is so. If it is true then I want to congratualate Floyd on a job well done.

I don't think anyone has volunteered their role in this or claimed responsibility. Possibly because it would suggest that Lance's team were not responsible themselves.

However, if the person with the last laugh laughs best, Floyd is having a pretty good laugh right now. And, it isn't clear that Lance is going to have anything to laugh about for a looooong time.

I was asking about the .NET side instead of the .COM site. I have read on other sites that Floyd set it up, but I do not recall seeing anything definitive. Perhaps it is only a rumor.

I understood that. And, one of the best part's of the joke is that for all we know, it was set up by Lance et al.

Why would you want to spoil that by claiming responsibility?

Arnie Baker is known to have some capability with the French Internet. Maybe it was him.

Understanding the sentiments of the French, they may not mind an LA *ss-handing, even during the Tour.

Might even create a new national holiday...

you would think after LA's creation of the anti French sentiments towards him which were totally false they might like it, but the TdF is to sell France as a tourist destination to the world so another major scandal might not be their cup of coffee and croissant so to speak, but then again they might enjoy the publicity it will bring...
