Fascinated to see how Pedersen gets on given he is in good form coming into this race. Since he won the WC I've always thought he was absolutely perfectly suited to Paris Roubaix.

Seems absolutely laughable now that Trentin was widely expected to smoke him in the sprint at the WC - he's clearly one of the fastest men in the peleton, if not the fastest at the end of a long race, and can hold his own in a standard bunch sprint stage too.

  • Won PR junior race
  • Thrives in long, attritional races (+cold when relevant)
  • appropriate physique for the cobbles
  • fantastic sprint finish
  • Decent results in cobbled classics he is far less suited to.
Historic results aside, when you take out the climbs from the cobbled classics, I can't see why you would rate him any lower than MVDP or WVA even when all are on top form.

I'm curious what role WVA will play tomorrow. Maybe the best benefit for the team will be WVA attacking earlier (despite being subpar) and forcing other teams to chase him. Or maybe he's better than they say and will surprise his rivals tomorrow.

Degenkolb just said that DSM won't race the tyre pressure management system tomorrow. He sees it as a massive advantage, but it needs more time to practice it. They will bring it for the Tour stage instead.

For a team that plans everything into extreme, does it sound utterly stupid.

I don't know, Jumbo for example said that it changes the weight distribution quite a bit, and consequently also the bike handling. So it makes sense that it needs proper practicing.

But well, yeah, they probably already knew that a week ago as well then, and it mainly was a media move for the moment.

Anyone know what's occurring with Team Bike Exchange?
Only fielding 5 riders it seems.
I saw at one point Bling was down to make his debut here. I was quite excited by that. I can't fully understand why he's never ridden this race.

Would have been kind of like Vino riding Scheldeprijs back in the day.

In other words, "it's a massive advantage, except it isn't"
I can’t be the only one envisioning this (if they used it) going really bad? Similar to 2 pro riders staring at a flat front tire with no Allen key or quick release lever to swap wheels.

The women's team had only 4 riders - Team of five is because of illness and interest by riders - The team also prioritised the Tour of Turkey - I'm with you about Bling - He should be suited by the race BUT he's never shown any great enthusiasm for the race.
