There are 18 teams listed, with only Garmin to be added, so it looks like only one team will miss out

Edit: I can't see Movistar or Skil - so there are more teams to be added

There are no Movistar, Garmin or Geox.

From now on in the first list only two teams are going to commission : Euskaltel and Ag2R since they are not in the top 15.

The others would have their renewal automatically confirmed if there are no irregularity.

In the second list they all are going in front of the commission.

So basically the UCI tells us they will choose whoever they want and that the UCI ranking is worthless

Movistar and Geox in the same boat as Garmin?

When can we start shooting winged horses with team logos on 'em?

So we have 9 confirmed teams at least for next year? Good enough base as any to start off with.

Means 13 teams for 9 spots, 4 miss out. Ouch

EDIT: No, ****ed up the numbers. 8 confirmed, so 10 spots, 3 miss out.

EDIT EDIT: And based on Nicosix's rankings, it'd be a case of 6 teams fighting out for 3 spots:
Katusha
FDJ
Ag2r
Euskaltel
Europcar
Skil

1. Skil, with Kittel and Degenkolb two very interesting sprinters would like to see them at top level
2. Europcar, they just deserve the spot for this years performance at TDF
3. Euskaltel, can't imagine World Tour without the orange guys

Actually it's more a 3 spots for 4 teams since Europcar and Skil are out of the top 20 which is mandatory to have a chance.

For Europcar, they don't need much and a good signing would do the trick. (25 points to ne sure)

Skil I'm afraid, won't make it

GreenEdge being listed as GreenEdge does that mean they haven't got a sponsor and Ryan will be sponsoring them?

From the latest I read greenedge had some discussions with title sponsors but didn't look like they were going to get one.
For the first year they were going to try and develop the brand greenedge, get some results and aim for a major sponsor the 2nd year

Why would they really deserve it?

They keep proving that, without Kittel, they don't amount to anything and are a worthless addition to the World Tour, the Tour de France of 2009 was downright embarrassing.

Skil is Kittel, Degenkolb and then nothing. Okay, perhaps Veelers is okay as a leadout for Kittel.

Well, I think that they always had a solid french contingent, like in the past they had L'hotellerie, Hivert, Lemoine and now Hupond, Geniez among other promising young riders from Germany and the Netherlands.

ok so - teams that have a licence

1 - Astana
2 - BMC
3 - Lampre
4 - Liquigas
5 - Rabobank
6 - Radioshack-Nissan
7 - Sky
8 - Vacansoleil

Assuming that the others get their paperwork in, teams that are most likely safe

9 - Garmin (4th ranking)
10 - Saxobank Sungard (12th ranking)
11 - Greenedge (no way UCI will not approve)
12 - Omega-Pharma Quickstep (10th ranking)
13 - Movistar (9th ranking)

I would suggest that the following will get through based on past performance / sponsorship / popularity / cycling promotion etc

14 - Lotto-Ridley
15 - Euskatel

and we are left with 3 spots between
- FDJ
- Europcar
- Skil / It41
- AG2R
- Katusha
- Geox

Given that Geox couldnt get one last year, personally I dont think they will get one this year either.

given there are no french teams, I would suggest that at least one, if not 2 of the french teams will get a gig, and given FDJ and AG2R are the only inside the top 20 (we think) I will have a guess at
- AG2R
- Katusha
- FDJ

This looks good, but if Nicosix's list is correct, although new signing will change things, Geox is going to make the top 15 and automatically get a license. If this is case then only 3 of Ag2r, FDJ, Katusha and Euskatel can get a license.

You don't get a license just by finishing in the top 15 though. Finishing in the top 15 is what you need to do to keep your license.

Also that list makes far too much sense, so we can be sure it won't happen that way.

I am confused, is this different to last year?

I wonder about the Geox thing... the whole rejection of them last year just seemed weird, like there was some hidden message trying to punish Gianetti. Did anyone else think this? Anyway, if their non-inclusion was some kind of slight last year, maybe the UCI will think they've learned whatever lesson they were supposed to learn and get them in this year. Agree with Katusha, there's no way they will turn down a big money cycling project from a country they want to break into (whatever happened to the WorldTour ambitions for the GP Sochi?); it's one thing to slap an Italian company in the face, quite another to do so to the only big Russian sponsor.

Europcar, if they can pull into the top 20, probably have the best shot for the last spot, I feel. Although with French cycling back on the upswing, I wouldn't be surprised if any of the French teams got in, it was silly that only one did last year. And I'm still a little suspicious of Euskaltel's roster, I wonder if they don't intend to just drop down to Pro Conti (even though they applied for PT).

We shall see, but I think Geox will get it this year, roster dependent.

I don't think that anyone who watched the Vuelta will think that Geox learnt any lessons. I still think that they'll get a license mind you.

I would want Garmin to be in. JV might be a clown at times but he coordinates his team well and gets them good results. I hope EE can get in. Feel sad for Europcar as well. Any idea about Rollands' contract???

Should EE really want to get in there at all? Their restrictive selection policy means that they cannot have much strength in depth. Their sponsors have (AFAIK) no commercial interests outside the Basque country. If they had a promise of one non-Spanish GT (they'd prefer TdF, but Gd'I probably suits their strengths better), would they be better off to concentrate on Spanish races and the occasional invite to a mountainous one weeker? A large proportion of their racing days, and presumably of their costs, are absorbed in races where they are unlikely to penetrate the top 20.

after the tour of boredom in China how did - Katusha go if you include Kristoff they had 3 top 10 in a couple of stages and 2 in most must have been a massive points injection
