I chose Purito..would like to see him really win !
Quintana has a few more years left to score the Giro as his so....

it would be a lot of fun if Basso won it again! :D

Horner is a statistical aberration.

Yes, that's the key thing.

Horner is proof that it is possible for a middle aged man to win a GT. He does not however represent a new norm or suddenly improve the tail end of everyone else's career.

What is going on with Jrod? Any word? Does his team think he'll be okay for the Giro? I really hope he is okay, there needs to be someone to challenge Quintana in the mountains....need a little bit of action. We all know no one else will be able to challenge. :p

Rodriguez seems injured, and it will be interesting to see how Quintana does in the cold. if it is cold.
table may be tipping in Cadel's favour.
then again, we could have a new face on the block, which would be very cool.

Its definitely going to be an entertaining race. Lacking the big guns, but I'd prefer a mix like we have vs one standout rider who is sure to dominate like Nibali and Contador have in recent years.

If Quintana reaches the level of the Tour last year, he'll be pretty dominant...

Voted for Quintana, but would enjoy it more if Aru or Majka win it.

Pozzovivo podium would be pretty awesome too.

Majka has been under the radar so far this season. I know the Giro is his main goal of the season, I doubt if he will be able to ride top 5.

Nairo had a press conference before leaving to the Giro.

http://www.revistamundociclistico.com/ruta/16378-es-posible-sonar-que-ganamos-el-giro-de-italia-nairo-quintana.html

This is the first time, at least for me, that I have seen someone name each rival and go over where they are publicly. He states how each is dangerous and how he has to be alert of each one. He names the races they did, the placing they did, accidents they had, etc..

"We all saw how Cadel did at Trentino, much better than most. Watching how he pulled the peloton on his own when isolated and finishing with the leaders without losing time.".

"Joaquim had two falls in the Ardenas, but looks like it was not significant and he is very strong physically. He will be my toughest rival and he also knows that I am also one of the favorites".

"Pozzovivo was very strong in Trentino, he is a great climber and finished in the top 5 in LBL".

"Uran is getting stronger. He has done some really good races, we did Tirreno and I saw how strong he was while helping his team leader".

"Arredondo is another Colombian to watch, very strong showing his form in the Ardenas as well."

My votes:
1) Nairo Quintana
2) Rigoberto Uran
3) Joaquim Rodriguez
4) Fabio Duarte

I know, 3 are Colombians, biased. To my defense, I had Porte & Horner as 2 and 3 earlier in the year

I would take Duarte out. The other three seem very reasonable. Cadel is looking good for Podium as well. Not sure how Purito is feeling right now.

Basso will be ready for the Giro, no doubt.

Talks about his form in article on CN:http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/ivan-basso-to-lead-cannondalde-at-tour-de-romandie

I think Quintana will dominate, but I will cheer for Basso, Scarponi and Pozzovivo :)

Voted other, i believe that Dan Martin will give a strong showing

if a strong showing is a top 20, then yes. his best result is a 13 place at the vuelta, more than 7 min behind Cobo.

Will be interesting to see how the two Polish riders go, especially Majka. They finished sixth and seventh in the last Giro. Majka would have done better without the stage cuts.

Ivan Basso will take it easily.

How? He's not even going to have any climbing domestiques other than David Villella. Unless you want to include Moser as one, but I'd say he's going to get a stage hunting role. Cannondale has picked a team which shows they have no faith in Basso's ability to win.
