ouch. But that's not the end of it:As a team manager Bjarne Riis, among other acts, the former head of dubious CSC team. The coaching staff includes, among other things, Lars Michaelsen (Member of the scandal-ridden Festina selection), Bruno Cenghialta (Member of the scandal-ridden Seguros team) and the Epo-confessed consumers Steven de Jongh.
but there's more:And then there's team-owner Oleg Tinkow, a Russian businessman who became rich with beer and credit card trading. Tinkow, which some refer to as Abramovich of cycling has supported since 2006 various cycling teams, including "Tinkoff Credit Systems", once the employer of Tyler Hamilton. At that time Tinkow said to Hamilton: "I do not care what you do - the main thing, you will not get caught" (what Tinkow denies).
He (Tinkov) is of course strictly against doping. But then it is remarkable how many former doping sinners he has in his team: the once tested positive Daniele Bennati, Michael Rogers and Rory Sutherland, the alleged Fuentes clients Jesus Hernandez and Sergio Paulinho, to Roman Kreuziger.

Yeah, let's call all those riders doping sinners without any real evidence. That's German media for ya.
those are all guys who have been linked to doping one way or the other.LaFlorecita said:"He (Tinkov) is of course strictly against doping. I remember reading about a hematocrit study of German footballers having close to 90s cyclist values but officials said that blood tests aren't necessary because football is not an endurance sport.sniper said:The only (big) problem I have with German sports media is that they don't place the same question marks behind soccer and tennis performances.

Which is laughable, because it is and because Dwain Chambers and Marion Jones took EPO.

so the point stands: Tinkov claiming to be antidoping is laughable looking at what riders he hires.
I think it's a very bold article, and much needed in light of the fact that German TV and German sponsors are showing signs of bad memory.
. Even if the author may not have fact-checked every detail.
The only (big) problem I have with German sports media is that they don't place the same question marks behind soccer and tennis performances.

indeed they didn't.Fearless Greg Lemond said:Did they also put questionmarks around der Jens hourrecord? But, at least some part of the media is critical, the rest sings hallelujah.

There's no way in hell I'm going to think it's better than Anglo-Saxon naïvety or Southern European old school wink wink nudge nudge.
