Finish at Kasereck, at 1900m.
In other words, the actual Grossglockner, not the Grossglockner plus the Franz Josef's Höhe that is usually all called "Grossglockner" ;)

Again: It's a rumour, but a plausible one. Other than that stage and the S. pellegrino stage, the main features of the route are what have already been confirmed by the organizers.

Actually i was thinking more about a climb over the Hochtor with the finish at Fusher Törl.

Still looks like an overkill even with a finish at Kasereck.

So, the rumours look to be spot on.

Also, if the TT on stage 16 is on the Nevegal....that's a mountain TT (although it's for power climbers, as it's in no way steep)
I'm hoping the final stage is quite long.

Once again, makes the recently unveiled Tour route look like the next edition of the ENECO Tour.
Very tasty. It's been a long 6 years waiting for the return of the mighty Finestre!
(No ACF, it is nothing like Corones.)

Just substitute Mur de Huy 50km before a flat finish for Col d'Aubisque 50km before a flat finish?

Zomegnan has gone loco. 7 MTF and 1 MTT is simply too much for one race if the rumored route is true.

But they are taking the ZOnc from the weaker side ? Are they descending it afterwards?

1 problem is they took 2 of the best stages from last year and included parts again this year. It would be brilliant if they made Strade Bianchi a permanent fixture, same with Zonc. But i worry that after including it 2 years in a row they might drop it for few years.

Epic course though. Will be brilliant. If we arent sure if its the correct course though, 95% sure, then i worry 1 of the 5% taken out will be a mtf.

They'll imagine something else, probably. Knowing Zomegnan it will probably be something like riding over Mt Etna :p

But anyway, a great course once again. I hope Evans will ride this one, I guess Basso will go for the tour, while Nibali takes the Giro as the main leader. Kreuziger will be there and let's hope some other big names

The Giro is already shaping up to be more exciting than the Tour.

Likely or confirmed contenders riding- Nibali, Kreuziger, Arroyo, Scarponi, Sastre, Evans, Anton

Throw in Ricco, Pozzovivo and Sella and if any of those are riding in the mountains then you get an unpredicatable race.

I can already see it. Riders covered in ash, black smoke, lava running over the roads. Sounds like the Giro to me.

Can't wait for this. TDF seems to be an Andy Schleck show, besides, the route is nowhere near as exciting as tthe Girgo

A rumoured route is making the rounds in Italy.

it includes sterrato on stage 5, the Montevergine on stage 6, the Etna on stage 9, the Grossglockner on stage 13, the Crostis and Zoncolan on 14, the stage whose altimetry we've seen is 15, a finish on the San Pellegrino on the 18th, the Finestre and Sestriere on the 20th and two TTs on the 16th and 21st

If that's true:

I just hope we can arrange for lots of rain on the dirt days. Nothing like riders totally covered in mud for fun viewing. :D
